چکیده

Chromaticity differential thresholds for five colour stimuli and three observers have been measured from metameric matchings. For each of the stimuli four differential thresholds were obtained, each of them corresponding to a different value of the degree of metamerism of the matching. Results obtained show failures in chromaticity predictions of the stimuli evaluated in the metameric matchings which are discussed with regard to the degree of metamerism. evaluated by different indexes proposed in the literature. These metamerism indexes lead to different results which are also discussed. MOTS CLES :

Scalarcurvatureofcolorspace as a Source of Information of New Uniformity Aspects concerning to Color Representation Systems

The principal aim of the differential colorimetry is perhaps to find a system of color representation which is homogeneous and isotropic, i.e., a uniform color space. Such a system would offer certain advantages, especially for the technical procedures, because minimum perceptible differences (differential chromaticity thresholds) would be represented as circles with the same size in the chroma...

Superior discrimination for hue than for saturation and an explanation in terms of correlated neural noise.

The precision of human colour discrimination depends on the region of colour space in which measurements are made and on the direction in which the compared colours-the discriminanda-differ. Working in a MacLeod-Boynton chromaticity diagram scaled so that thresholds at the white point were equal for the two axes, we made measurements at reference points lying on lines that passed at 45° or -45°...

Symmetries and asymmetries in chromatic discrimination.

Under conditions of adaptation to a steady neutral field (metameric to Daylight Illuminant D65), forced-choice thresholds for color discrimination were measured for brief targets presented to the human fovea. Measurements were made along +45° and -45° lines in a MacLeod-Boynton chromaticity space scaled so that the locus of unique yellow and unique blue lay at -45°. The lines were symmetrical r...

Chromatic discrimination with variation in chromaticity and luminance: data and theory.

Boynton and Kambe developed a model of chromatic discrimination in which thresholds are mediated by two independent mechanisms: the short-wavelength sensitive (S-) cones (S-cone axis), and the middle-wavelength sensitive (M-) and long-wavelength sensitive (L-) cones (M/L-cone axis). In this study, we used a Maxwellian view optical system to investigate fundamental properties of the model as a f...

Predicting frequency of metamerism in natural scenes by entropy of colors.

Estimating the frequency of metameric surfaces in natural scenes usually requires many comparisons of surface colors to determine which are visually indistinguishable under one light but distinguishable-by a certain criterion degree-under another. The aim here was to test the predictive power of a simpler approach to estimation based on the entropy of colors. In simulations with 50 hyperspectra...
